It is useful in the assessment of:
- White Coat Syndrome
- White Coat Hypertension
- Masked Hypertension
- Effectiveness of drug therapy for hypertension

The blood pressure is measured every 15 -30 minutes during the day and 30-60 minutes during the night, using an arm cuff or a watch device. The 24 hour average systolic and diastolic blood pressure values are then calculated; the daytime and nighttime averages are similarly calculated. The averages are then compared to the normal range of values. Note that the normal range of values for these averages are not the same as those used for single readings. |
